About Us

The Central Virginia Chapter of the American Meteorological Society is an organization of meteorologists and weather enthusiasts alike devoted to encouraging scientific literacy, promoting weather education, and spreading severe weather awareness to the community of the central Virginia area.

Jeff Mock

President

Jeff Mock is Lead Meteorologist at Dominion Energy. He is a 2004 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. Since 2007, Jeff has played a critical role in Dominion Energy’s high-profile and large-impact event planning and response. He loves any type of weather, especially snow.

Daniel D. Salkovitz

Vice President

Dan Salkovitz is an Air Pollution Meteorologist for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from Franklin and Marshall College and a Master of Science degree in Meteorology from Rutgers University. Dan provides daily air quality forecasts and considers weather to be both his job and a lifelong hobby.

Erin Guidry Hurd

Secretary-Treasurer

Erin works as a Meteorologist at Dominion Energy. She grew up in the Richmond area and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2018 with a B.S. in Meteorology. Twister is her favorite movie and she loves spending time outside.
