On August 26th, weather enthusiasts and meteorologists gathered in a hybrid format for the first time since the pandemic began! This hybrid format allows those who are not in central VA to also attend and participate.

After going over the meeting minutes and a report from our Secretary-Treasurer, Christine Smith dived right into her presentation. Christine Smith is a field operations manager for the Global Monitoring Laboratory, which is located deep inside Antarctica. She even stayed there for 13 months working and conducting research!

Christine's presentation focussed on "Weather Forecasting and Research at the South Pole". The presentation provided a unique perspective on air quality, particle research, and observations in such a remote and inhabitable area. Attached below are our favorite slides from Christine's presentation.

Our next meeting date has not been announced, but should be sometime in October! See you then!
