Next Meeting April 14th, 2019 at the Grapevine!

The next meeting of the Central Virginia Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) will be at 1:00 pm, Sunday, April 14, 2019 at The Grapevine Restaurant, 11055 Three Chopt Rd, Henrico, Virginia.

The timely topic will be the National Weather Service (NWS) SKYWARN® Storm Spotter Program.

Our speakers will be Tim Farrell, Richmond and Southern Virginia Area SKYWARN® Coordinator, and Mike Dutter, Science Operations Officer, NWS Wakefield.

All Central Virginia Chapter AMS meetings are welcome to all with an interest in meteorology/weather (professional meteorologists and weather enthusiasts). Although encouraged, chapter members do not need to be members of the AMS. Meeting agenda, subject to change: 1. Welcome/Introductions

2. 2019 Mid-Atlantic Chaser Con: Following the huge success of the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Chaser Con, the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Chaser Con is set for Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Science Museum of Virginia. Early-bird discount registration begins in June.

3. Metro Richmond STEM Fair Awards.

4. Chapter Constitution Amendments: The attached Chapter Constitution Amendments will be presented for ratification.

5. Chapter Officer Nominations: The meeting will include elections for the chapter-elected officers. Nominations for Chapter officers are being taken now via e-mail and will continue to be accepted by the Chapter Nominations Committee until Sunday, March 31. All current Officers may be re-nominated for their current positions.  Please contact me, Dan Salkovitz (current Secretary/Treasurer), at the above e-mail address if you are interested in becoming an officer or would like to suggest someone for an office. Elected Officers include President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer. The only limitation is that the chapter president must be a member of the American Meteorological Society.
