The next meeting of the Central Virginia Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) will be at 6:00 pm (5:00 pm if you want to join us for dinner), Thursday, February 20, 2020 at The Grapevine Restaurant, 11055 Three Chopt Rd, Henrico, Virginia.
Our speaker will be Carroll Ellis from the Henrico Math Science Innovation Center (MSIC). Carroll will teach/discuss with us tornado damage assessments and how they are done. This will be similar to the talk and exercise Carroll gave at the October meeting at the MSIC.
Meeting agenda, subject to change: 1. Welcome/Introductions: Chapter President Peter Effertz 2. 2020 Mid-Atlantic ChaserCon - Saturday, November 7, 2020, Science Museum of Virginia. The Central Virginia Chapter will be hosting the Friday evening mixer. The 2019 ChaserCon had approximately 75 attendees. 3. Budget update: Secretary/Treasurer Dan Salkovitz. 2020 dues are due. Cash or check only: Regular member: $25 College: $15 K-12: $5 Family: $40 4. Speaker: Carroll Ellis, Geoscience Educator and Flight Director of the Challenger Learning Center, MSIC, "Tornado Assessments". Next meeting: Saturday, April 25, 2020. All Central Virginia Chapter AMS meetings are welcome to all with an interest in meteorology/weather (professional meteorologists and weather enthusiasts). Although encouraged, chapter members do not need to be members of the AMS.
