The Central Virginia Chapter of the American Meteorological Society will hold our summer meeting on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021 at 7:00 PM

We are having the meeting at Grapevine Greek and Italian Restaurant, AND on ZOOM.

Please stop by and/or log in anytime after 6:00 PM, and have dinner and have some time for socializing before the formal meeting meeting. It is always great to catch up with eveyone’s latest news and events. We’ll have a projector set up in the banquet room at the restaurant for those to see you from Zoom and a webcam so you won’t miss anything on Zoom that happens in the live meeting. There is outdoor Seating if you are more comfortable with that.

Our Featured presenter this month is:

Harvey V. Lankford MD

And his presentation is on:

Paul Siple (Pioneer on the Wind Chill Index)

Siple’s 6 trips to Antarctica, his famous wind-chill index (WCI) and how his 1939 WCI was the original. The 1940/1945 version became the meteorological standard until 2001. Our novel comparison of Siple’s unpublished work to modern indices suggests he was on the right track in 1939.

Will be presented in person at the Grapevine..

Hope to see you there.
