The next meeting of the Central Virginia Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) will be at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, June 16, 2020. This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. Our speaker will be Dr. Brian Batten from Dewberry, a nationwide firm of planning, design, and construction professionals. Dr Batten will be presenting on planning and mitigation of sea level rise in Virginia Beach. He is a senior coastal scientist and project manager with Dewberry's resilience solutions group and leads the firm's sea level rise practice. He has more than 20 years of experience in coastal marine sciences and is an expert in coastal hazards, including coastal flooding, coastal erosion, and sea level rise. He has been leading a comprehensive flood resilience study for the City of Virginia Beach.
